NEWBURY — A West Charleston man was taken into custody on Halloween night after allegedly providing false information to Vermont State Police and attempting to flee to avoid arrest on outstanding warrants.
Harold Nadeau, 47, was apprehended on U.S. Route 302 after police investigated a reported burglary at the All Purpose Storage in Newbury.
During the investigation, which took place around 8:45 p.m., Nadeau initially gave troopers a false name.
When confronted with the existence of two warrants for his arrest, Nadeau tried to escape on foot.
State Police quickly captured him and transported him to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.
Nadeau faces charges of resisting arrest and providing false information to law enforcement, in addition to being arrested on the outstanding warrants.
Further information regarding the specifics of the warrants was not immediately available.
The Vermont State Police have not released further details about the incident as the investigation is ongoing.
