Cohasset man faces felony charge for defacing political sign with swastika

COHASSET — Cohasset police detectives have arrested a local man following an investigation into the vandalism of a political sign on Route 3A.

Frederic Laidlaw, 74, of Cohasset, was taken into custody after police say he painted a swastika on the sign situated on private property.

The incident occurred Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Laidlaw is facing a felony charge of defacement of property, a violation of Massachusetts General Laws, and will be arraigned in Quincy District Court today.

The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Civil Rights Division, has been notified of the arrest.

Authorities have stated that this investigation is ongoing.
