PRINCETON — A suspect involved in a series of car thefts and a shoplifting incident was taken into custody after a multi-town police chase on Oct. 29.

Princeton Police Department reported a vehicle driving on a rim was spotted on Hobbs Road around 4:47 p.m. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Fitchburg earlier that day, turned onto North County Road where it was located by an officer.

A male was seen fleeing from the vehicle upon the officer’s arrival.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Sterling Police Department, Westminster Police Department, and Massachusetts State Police, assisted in the search for the suspect.

During the pursuit, the suspect was found to have shoplifted from a Kwik Stop store.

Further investigation revealed the suspect had stolen another vehicle from Hobbs Road, a short distance from where he had fled.

This vehicle was later involved in a crash in Ashburnham and abandoned by the operator, who then stole another car and drove it to Fitchburg.

The subsequent crash in Fitchburg led to the operator’s arrest.

The Princeton Police Department announced criminal charges will be filed against the suspect.

Ashburnham and Fitchburg Police Departments are also expected to file charges related to the vehicle thefts and crashes.
