BANGOR — A Connecticut man was arrested on multiple charges, including drug trafficking and firearm possession, following a traffic stop in Bangor early Friday morning.
Maine State Police say Sgt. Dube of the Northern Field Troop pulled over a vehicle on I-95 around 12:30 a.m. for speeding.
The driver, identified as 40-year-old Cyrus Griffin of New Haven, Connecticut, was found to be driving without a valid license.
Further investigation revealed Griffin was on parole in Connecticut for homicide and was not permitted to leave the state.
Tr. Doyle arrived to assist at the scene after Griffin’s parole status was ascertained.
A search of Griffin’s vehicle, prompted by probable cause, led to the discovery of a loaded pistol under the driver’s seat.
Griffin’s prior conviction and parole prohibited him from possessing firearms.
Officers also uncovered a significant quantity of drugs, including 375 grams of cocaine, 69 grams of cocaine base, and 142 grams of fentanyl xylazine.
In addition, approximately $2,100 in suspected drug proceeds and multiple items associated with drug manufacturing and sales were seized.
Griffin was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency assisted the Maine State Police following the seizure.
