ST. ALBANS — An inmate at the Northwest State Correctional Facility in St. Albans has been cited for simple assault and assault on a correctional officer, according to a Vermont State Police report.

The incident occurred on Oct. 7 when Jordan Lawyer, 29, from Enosburgh, allegedly attacked Correctional Officer Timothy Pullen.

Police say Pullen was escorting Lawyer to his cell after a video arraignment on unrelated charges when Lawyer resisted and assaulted the officer.

The altercation reportedly began when Lawyer refused to enter his cell and have his handcuffs removed.

He is said to have struck Pullen several times in the head and attempted further attacks.

Pullen suffered minor injuries and was treated at Northwestern Medical Center, later being released.

Lawyer, who was already incarcerated on charges of murder and aggravated domestic assault, was cited on Oct. 29 at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield.

He is scheduled for arraignment on Dec. 9 at 8:30 a.m. in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans.
