EXETER — A Newmarket man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol following a car crash yesterday afternoon.

Exeter Police and Fire personnel were called to the scene of a single car accident on Court Street at approximately 1:48 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 2015 Mini Cooper with severe damage after it had struck a telephone pole.

The investigation revealed that the car, which was headed north, had veered across the oncoming lane before colliding with the pole.

Murdoc Jones, 31, was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

After assessing the situation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Jones for DUI.

Jones was taken into custody without incident and later released on personal recognizance bail.

He is scheduled to appear at the 10th Circuit Brentwood District Division court on Nov. 7.
