NAUGATUCK — Police are investigating a series of “ding dong ditch” pranks involving youths kicking doors instead of ringing doorbells, causing property damage in some cases.
The Naugatuck Police Department has received multiple reports of the incidents as Halloween approaches.
Officials are urging parents to speak with children about responsible behavior and potential consequences.
“We are actively working to identify the individuals involved,” the department said in a statement Tuesday.
Authorities are asking residents with information to contact the police department at 203-729-5222 or use the confidential tip line at 203-720-1010.
The pranks come as communities prepare for Oct. 31 festivities and the night before Halloween, sometimes called “mischief night” in some areas.
Police did not provide details on the number of incidents reported or the extent of property damage.
