DANVILLE — A 16-year-old driver suffered severe injuries in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening on Peacham Road, state police said.
The accident occurred around 6:56 p.m. near 2173 Peacham Road.
The juvenile driver, operating a 1995 Toyota Tacoma, was traveling north when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to reports of the crash.
The driver, a resident of Barnet, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
Emergency responders transported the teen to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
The juvenile was later transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for further treatment of moderate to severe injuries.
The Toyota Tacoma was totaled in the collision.
At the time of the crash, weather conditions were overcast with freezing rain, and the road was wet.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Danville Fire Department, Peacham Fire Department, and CALEX ambulance crew assisted state police at the scene.
