LEBANON — A man was arrested after breaking into a police impound lot and leading officers on a high-speed chase, authorities said.

Robert Stark, 39, of Canaan, was taken into custody following a pursuit that began around 8:24 p.m. Saturday when Lebanon Police Department officers spotted him inside his truck at the department’s secure impound lot.

The vehicle had been seized the previous night after Stark’s DWI arrest and was awaiting a search warrant.

Stark refused to comply with commands to exit the truck and instead fled the scene at a high rate of speed, police said.

Officers gave chase but were unable to keep up due to Stark’s reckless driving.

He was later spotted on Dartmouth College Highway, still eluding police.

Eventually, Stark’s truck was located in Canaan, where multiple law enforcement agencies, including officers from Lebanon, Enfield, and Canaan Police Departments, along with New Hampshire State Police, responded.

Despite Stark’s continued refusal to cooperate, he was apprehended with the help of Lebanon Police Department’s K-9 Allegro.

Stark now faces charges of Falsifying Physical Evidence and Burglary, both Class B felonies, as well as Contempt and Criminal Trespassing, both Class A misdemeanors.

He was held on preventative detention, with an arraignment scheduled for Oct. 28 at the 2nd Circuit Lebanon District Court.

Currently on probation, Stark has other pending charges in New Hampshire.
