MERIDEN — A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges after police say he fired a gun from a vehicle early Friday morning.
Luis Valdez-Imbaquingo of Meriden was arrested around 5:20 a.m. after officers responded to a report of shots fired near 229 Camp St., according to the Meriden Police Department.
A caller reported seeing a white Ford Explorer stop in the roadway and someone point a pistol out the window and fire a round into the air.
Police located a vehicle matching the description traveling slowly on Pratt Street.
Officers conducted a felony stop at Hobart and Arch streets.
While searching the vehicle, police found a handgun under the front seat.
Valdez-Imbaquingo, identified as the vehicle’s owner and operator, was charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a firearm while under the influence, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a large capacity magazine, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and operating under the influence.
He was held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 8.
