NEWFIELD — A Ferrari convertible crashed and rolled over on a rural road in southern Maine on Sunday, seriously injuring the driver and causing minor injuries to a juvenile passenger.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said the single-vehicle accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Bond Spring Road in Newfield, just south of Shady Nook Road.

Jason Powell, 37, of West Newfield, was driving the Ferrari Spider convertible southbound when he lost control of the vehicle, according to deputies.

The car veered off the road and rolled onto its roof.

Powell was transported to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

The juvenile passenger, whose name was not released, was taken to a separate medical facility with minor injuries.

Authorities believe speed was a factor in the crash.

The road was closed for about an hour following the incident.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the accident.
