Operator cited for DUI after crashing into house in Topsham

TOPSHAM — A Bradford man faces multiple charges after crashing his vehicle into a residence late Friday night.

Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Vermont Route 25 in Topsham at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Oct. 25.

The driver, Daniel Herring, 61, was found to be under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Herring was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Trax when he failed to maintain his lane and struck a house, causing substantial damage to his vehicle.

He was wearing a seat belt and sustained suspected minor injuries.

Authorities transported Herring to Central Vermont Medical Center for evaluation.

He was subsequently cited for driving under the influence and negligent operation.

Police also issued him a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for failure to maintain lane.

The weather was clear at the time of the incident, and road conditions were dry.

State police from the St. Johnsbury barracks conducted the investigation.
