GROTON — A Norwich man faces multiple weapons and drug charges following a traffic stop early Saturday morning in Groton, police said.
Ramel D. Pires, 27, was arrested at approximately 3:48 a.m. on Oct. 26 after Groton City Police officers observed erratic driving behavior and conducted a traffic stop.
During the investigation, officers noted signs of possible impairment due to drugs or alcohol.
A subsequent search of Pires and his vehicle uncovered drugs packaged for sale and an unregistered firearm, according to police.
Pires was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a large capacity weapon, possession with intent to sell narcotics, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, among other offenses.
He was held on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28.
