STAMFORD — A 58-year-old Stamford man was arrested Friday in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in May, police said.
Hector Rolando Lemus-Portillo turned himself in at police headquarters on charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to yield while turning left.
He was released after posting a $60,000 bond.
The charges stem from a May 17 collision at the intersection of Lockwood Avenue and William Street.
According to police, Lemus-Portillo was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla southbound on Lockwood Avenue when he attempted to make a left turn, entering the path of a northbound 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle.
The 17-year-old motorcycle operator, whose name was not released due to his age, was unable to stop and struck the front of the Toyota.
He was transported to Stamford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force traumas resulting from the crash.
Lemus-Portillo remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad conducted the investigation, which concluded with the arrest warrant for Lemus-Portillo.
Lemus-Portillo is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Nov. 8.
