East Providence police arrest woman on fraud charges

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police arrested a 28-year-old East Providence woman Tuesday night on charges of writing fraudulent checks.

Troopers took Tayla L. Silva into custody at 9:53 p.m. on an affidavit arrest warrant issued by the Hope Valley Barracks.

The arrest stemmed from a barracks investigation and assistance from the East Providence Police Department in locating Silva.

Silva, faces charges of writing fraudulent checks for amounts under $1,500.

Authorities transported Silva to State Police Headquarters for processing.

She was held overnight pending arraignment Wednesday morning, where she will be presented as a probation violator.

The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Rhode Island State Police.
