ST. JOHNSBURY — A local man faces multiple charges after allegedly breaking into an apartment and assaulting two people early Tuesday morning.
Lawrence Kennard, 30, of St. Johnsbury, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of burglary, according to the St. Johnsbury Police Department.
Police say Kennard forced his way into an apartment at 110 Maple St. around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday.
He then allegedly assaulted the apartment’s tenant and a neighbor who came to help.
Investigators determined the assault stemmed from a recent dispute over $50, police said.
Kennard was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Johnsbury Police Department for processing.
He was later lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Center and is being held without bail.
He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Court at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
