CHICOPEE — A three-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer in Chicopee left one person dead and another injured Tuesday morning, police said.
The collision occurred at 8:37 a.m. when WESTCOMM Regional Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a serious crash between a car and a tractor-trailer, according to the Chicopee Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers found three vehicles involved, with one driver trapped in a car.
Chicopee Fire Department was called to assist in extracting the trapped individual.
The trapped driver, a 62-year-old man from West Springfield, was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The tractor-trailer operator was uninjured.
The driver of the third vehicle was taken to the hospital but has since been released without injury.
The Chicopee Crash Reconstruction Team, Massachusetts State Police, and the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident.
