Brockton man arrested on firearm charges after traffic stop

BOSTON — Boston police arrested a Brockton man on multiple firearm charges following a traffic stop in Dorchester on Thursday night.

At 9:21 p.m., members of the Youth Violence Strike Force pulled over a vehicle on Washington Street for driving without headlights, according to police.

Officers discovered the driver’s license was cancelled and asked occupants to exit the vehicle.

During a pat frisk of the vehicle, police recovered a loaded Glock pistol with a 14-round high-capacity magazine.

An empty ammunition box and Glock grip extender were also found.

Paul Bennett, 51, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, as well as unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.

Bennett is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The Boston Police Department did not provide further details about other occupants or additional circumstances surrounding the arrest.
