Wellfleet man arrested for cocaine trafficking after crash

WELLFLEET — A single-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning led to the arrest of a Wellfleet man on charges of cocaine trafficking.

At approximately 5:18 a.m. on Oct. 22, Wellfleet Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to Long Pond Road for a reported motor vehicle accident.

Officers found a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck off the road with a snapped telephone pole and utility wires strewn across the roadway.

The driver, identified as 43-year-old James Gray of Wellfleet, was assessed at the scene by the Wellfleet Fire Department and was found to be uninjured.

However, during the investigation, officers discovered a quantity of narcotics suspected to be cocaine.

Gray was charged with trafficking cocaine, more than 36 grams but less than 100 grams.

He was booked at the Wellfleet Police Department and later arraigned at Orleans Court.

Gray was released on $1,500 cash bail.
