North Adams police apprehend wanted man with help of K9 Rocky

NORTH ADAMS — A routine patrol turned into a foot chase on Oct. 21 when a detective from the North Adams Police Department spotted a man with an active arrest warrant walking on Spring Street.

Upon identifying himself, the officer initiated pursuit as the suspect began to flee on foot.

The chase led through multiple backyards, allowing the suspect to momentarily evade arrest.

Reinforcements arrived shortly after with Officer Cogswell and his K9 partner, Rocky, joining the search.

Demonstrating their training and skill, the duo began to track the suspect’s scent.

Their efforts paid off when K9 Rocky located the man hiding under a camper in the neighborhood.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The successful apprehension showcased the effective collaboration between the North Adams Police officers and their canine unit, highlighting the value of police dogs in law enforcement operations.
