Pomfret man arrested for DUI after leaving crash scene

POMFRET — A local man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle crash on Joe Ranger Road, authorities said Tuesday.

Vermont State Police responded to the incident near 598 Joe Ranger Road at approximately 10:55 a.m. on Oct. 22, where they found an abandoned vehicle but no driver or passengers.

After receiving reports of a shirtless male walking in the vicinity, troopers located 41-year-old Samuel A. Goodwin of Windsor.

An investigation revealed that Goodwin had been behind the wheel during the crash and was impaired at the time.

Goodwin was taken into custody, processed at the VSP Royalton Barracks, and then released to a sober individual.

The incident remains under investigation by state police.
