Meriden police arrest four, seize illegal firearms following shooting

MERIDEN — A shooting incident on Crown Street led to the swift arrest of four suspects and the seizure of three illegal firearms by the Meriden Police Department on Oct. 21.

Officers responded around 2:15 p.m. to reports of gunfire at 308 Crown Street.

They found shell casings at the scene, and shortly thereafter, were notified of a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm at a local hospital.

Using gathered information, police developed a lead on a suspect vehicle, which was spotted around 3:15 p.m. on Orange Street.

The vehicle attempted to evade police, hitting a marked cruiser before becoming disabled.

The four suspects fled on foot but were captured following a brief chase.

Three of the detainees were found carrying illegal firearms—a stolen gun, a ghost gun without a serial number, and a firearm with an altered serial number, two of which were equipped with extended magazines.

The Meriden Police Department praised the collective effort of its officers in apprehending the suspects and recovering the weapons within an hour of the shooting.
