South Pomfret school’s Pride flag vandalized, burned

SOUTH POMFRET — Vermont State Police are investigating an act of unlawful mischief after a Pride flag was removed and burned at the Prosper Valley School.

The incident occurred early in the morning on Oct. 20, when two individuals were recorded on surveillance entering the school grounds at approximately 1 a.m. and later burning the flag on the pavement near the school.

Troopers from the Royalton Barracks were notified of the vandalism at 10:19 a.m. on the same day.

The Vermont Attorney General’s Bias Incident Coordinator has been alerted, and the case remains under active investigation.

The authorities have not yet released the identities of the accused, as the investigation continues.

State Police are seeking assistance from the public and urge anyone with information to contact Trooper Colin Connery at the Royalton barracks.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted online.

Surveillance footage capturing the event will be disseminated in a follow-up news release, according to officials.
