1 min read

BOSTON — A routine traffic stop in the Roxbury neighborhood early Tuesday morning resulted in the arrest of a local man on multiple firearm and drug charges.

At about 1:20 a.m., officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) encountered a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street on Mount Pleasant Street.

The police, responding to community complaints about such violations, activated their emergency lights and sirens and stopped the car near 69 Winthrop Street.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers found that the driver, identified as Seven Dunkley, 20, of Roxbury, was unable to provide a license or registration.

Due to the inability to confirm the vehicle’s registration status, officers instructed Dunkley to exit the car so it could be towed.

During a subsequent inventory search of the vehicle, officers discovered a Glock 26 handgun with an extended magazine containing twenty-three rounds, out of a possible thirty-one.

The gun was modified with a Glock switch, converting it into a fully automatic weapon.

Additionally, one large and thirteen small bags of marijuana were found, along with $150 in cash.

As the firearm was recovered, Dunkley attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Officers quickly apprehended and handcuffed him after a brief chase.

Dunkley now faces charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Second Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Subsequent Offense, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D.

He also received a citation for multiple motor vehicle law infractions.

The suspect is scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
