West Fairlee man faces multiple charges after domestic assault incident

WEST FAIRLEE — A 51-year-old West Fairlee man was arrested Thursday evening on charges including first-degree aggravated domestic assault, after Vermont State Police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident on Mill Street.

According to the Vermont State Police – St. Johnsbury Barracks, the incident occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m. Troopers allege that Richard Towle attempted to cause serious bodily injury to a family or household member using various deadly weapons.

Towle was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Bradford Outpost for processing.

Following the arrest, he was released with a citation to appear at the Orange County Court on Nov. 6 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault, disorderly conduct, criminal threatening, and resisting arrest.

In compliance with their policies, the Vermont State Police have not released the names of the victims involved in the assault, to protect their identities as the victims of domestic violence.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further details will be available as the case progresses through the legal system.
