BRADFORD — A collision involving two police cruisers occurred early Monday morning as officers investigated a string of vehicle and trailer thefts in the area.

At approximately 6:07 a.m., Trooper Luke Rodzel, 29, of Newbury, was responding to reports of a stolen vehicle sighting when his cruiser, a 2023 Ford Explorer, collided with another police vehicle operated by Trooper Riley Fenoff, 24, of Danville.

The incident took place on US Rt 5 near Fairground Road amidst foggy conditions.

Both troopers were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.

Trooper Rodzel’s vehicle sustained moderate damage, while Trooper Fenoff’s 2022 Ford Explorer suffered minor damage.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the scene.

The crash occurred as Trooper Fenoff initiated a U-turn upon spotting a vehicle fitting the description of the stolen property.

Trooper Rodzel, who was also on the lookout for the suspect vehicle, inadvertently collided with Fenoff’s cruiser during the maneuver.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the thefts and no further details about the stolen vehicle have been released.
