Masked thieves strike jewelry store at Trumbull Mall

TRUMBULL — Three masked thieves carried out a smash-and-grab heist at the Saba Jewelers store in Trumbull Mall, making off with several thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry on Sunday.

The brazen theft occurred at around 3 p.m. on Oct. 20 when the suspects used hammers to break the glass display cases, according to the Trumbull Police Department.

They fled the scene shortly after, escaping in a dark-colored four-door sport utility vehicle headed toward the Main Street exit.

Shoppers and store employees, startled by the sound of shattering glass, alerted authorities.

Although no weapons were seen, the incident caused significant alarm.

Responding officers arrived swiftly to interview witnesses and secure the area for detectives to collect evidence.

The ongoing investigation seeks to determine the total value of the stolen items.
