WALTHAM — A New York man was arrested early Monday morning after a motor vehicle crash led to the discovery of heroin and multiple offenses, Vermont State Police said.
At around 12:16 a.m., authorities responded to a report of a crash on US Route 7 near Woodman Court.
Upon arrival, troopers found Jimmy L. Bell, 43, of Ticonderoga, New York, showing signs of impairment.
An investigation revealed that Bell had been driving with a criminally suspended license.
During the arrest, troopers found Bell in possession of 5.1 grams of heroin.
Bell, who had fourteen previous failures to appear in court, was charged with DUI – Drug, driving with a suspended license (DLS), and possession of heroin.
He was processed at the Middlebury Police Department and subsequently lodged at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility in lieu of $250 bail.
The Middlebury Police Department, Vergennes Rescue Squad, and Middstate Towing provided assistance during the incident.
