Braintree man faces assault, firearm charges after neighbor dispute

BRAINTREE — A neighborhood argument escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in the arrest of a local man on multiple charges including assault and reckless endangerment, Vermont State Police reported Monday.

Troopers were called to 106 Willow Brook Drive at about 11:42 a.m. following reports of a dispute between two residents.

Jason B. Haskins, 46, was accused of assaulting 18-year-old Remington Nunn during the altercation.

The incident began with a verbal exchange and turned physical when Nunn, while on his property, brandished a firearm.

Haskins then disarmed Nunn and proceeded to assault him, according to authorities.

Haskins, a Braintree resident, was processed for simple assault, unlawful mischief, reckless endangerment, and being a prohibited person with a firearm.

Following the processing, he was released with conditions and a citation to appear at the Orange County Superior Court-Criminal Division on Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m.

The Vermont State Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the confrontation.

Further details regarding the nature of the dispute and the conditions of release for Haskins were not immediately available.
