WEBSTER — A Webster man was arrested Thursday evening after leading police on a chase and being found with multiple warrants for his arrest.
At around 6:43 p.m., Webster Police Department officers received a tip that Oxford Police had tried to stop a motorcycle which then fled into Webster on Worcester Road.
Officers from the evening shift, including Suss, Donovan, Motyka, Cedeno, J. Brooks, and Bak, initiated a search for the motorcycle.
Officer Cedeno and Officer Motyka located the motorcycle on Bigelow Road and attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the motorcycle fled again as it turned onto North Main Street.
The officers terminated the pursuit for safety reasons.
However, after ending the chase, Officer Motyka spotted the motorcycle entering a driveway at 18 Upland Ave.
The operator, identified as 48-year-old Juan Guzman of Upland Ave, was seen dismounting the motorcycle and removing his helmet.
When approached by the officers, Guzman refused to show his hands and took an aggressive stance.
Fearing the helmet might be used as a weapon, the officers were forced to take Guzman to the ground to arrest him.
Upon arrest, it was discovered that Guzman did not possess a valid motorcycle license and had two active warrants.
He is charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, and unlicensed operation, in addition to the existing warrants.
Guzman was arraigned at Dudley District Court on October 11, and will face additional charges from the Oxford Police Department.
