Two-vehicle crash in Waterford results in one car totaled, minor injuries

WATERFORD — A two-vehicle collision on VT Route 18 near Lower Waterford Road resulted in one car being totaled and suspected minor injuries on Oct. 19.

Vermont State Troopers reported to the scene at around 2:45 p.m. where they found a 2017 Subaru WRX, driven by Samantha Barbarito, 32, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, had rear-ended a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, operated by Randall Dockham, 56, of Bethlehem, New Hampshire.

Following the impact, Barbarito’s Subaru caught fire and was completely engulfed in flames.

Both Barbarito and her passenger, Mathew Cole, 29, also from Lebanon, New Hampshire, managed to escape the vehicle without injuries.

They were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Dockham and his passenger, Marilyn Dockham, 59, were wearing seat belts and suffered suspected minor injuries.

They were transported to Northeast Vermont Regional Hospital for medical evaluation.

The accident occurred under clear skies and on dry road conditions.

The Waterford and St. Johnsbury Fire Departments, along with CALEX Ambulance, assisted at the scene.

Trahan Towing removed the damaged vehicles.

Vermont State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
