SPRINGFIELD — Sharon Michaud was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Springfield police officers responded to a reported shoplifting at Shaw’s on Springfield Plaza Road.

According to the Springfield Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3:16 p.m. to the grocery store where Michaud was observed placing items into her purse.

Officer Guzzo, aware of an active warrant for Michaud’s arrest, confirmed the warrant with dispatch upon arrival at the scene.

Michaud was taken into custody at 3:22 p.m. without further incident.

After being processed at the Springfield Police Department, Michaud was issued a criminal citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, at White River Junction on Oct. 14 at 12:30 p.m.

Facing the charge of arrest on an in-state warrant, she was subsequently transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility with bail set at $200 cash or surety.

The police emphasized that decisions regarding bail and incarceration fall under the jurisdiction of the judicial system, not the police department.
