SPRINGFIELD — Two individuals were arrested on the morning of Oct. 7 by Springfield Police Department officers after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected cocaine and the execution of outstanding warrants.

Officers were dispatched around 10:36 a.m. to assist the Springfield Fire Department at a residence on Furnace Street.

En route, Officer Guzzo observed a dark blue Toyota Corolla without a front license plate on Loveland Street.

The passenger, identified as Heather Stewart, was known to Officer Guzzo and allegedly had an active in-state warrant for her arrest.

A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver, Michael Myers, was also recognized as having an active warrant.

Both Myers and Stewart were detained after warrant confirmations.

A subsequent investigation of the vehicle found suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Stewart was taken to court the same day to face the charge related to the warrant.

Myers was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit in Woodstock on Dec. 3 at 8:30 a.m. to respond to the alleged cocaine possession charge.
