St. Johnsbury man in critical condition following early morning shooting

ST. JOHNSBURY — A non-fatal shooting on McGill Avenue left a local man critically injured early Sunday morning.

Matthew Christman, 41, of St. Johnsbury, was identified by the Vermont State Police as the victim of the shooting that occurred at about 3:10 a.m. on Oct. 6.

As of Oct. 16, he remains in critical condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Authorities have provided few details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting, citing an active and ongoing investigation.

The identity of the accused has not been released, and no arrests have been reported.

The Vermont State Police are appealing to the public for any information related to the incident.
