Rhode Island State Police make multiple arrests for fraud, DUI, and possession

LINCOLN WOODS — Rhode Island State Police made several arrests over the course of two days, ranging from fraud and driving under the influence to drug possession and failure to appear in court.

On Oct. 16 at noon, Troopers apprehended Tina Mitchell, 50, of Cumberland, for obtaining property greater than $10,000 through false pretenses or impersonation.

Mitchell surrendered herself at Lincoln Woods Barracks following an investigation.

She was subsequently processed and turned over to Sixth Division District Court for arraignment.

Later that day at 2:34 a.m., William Gionis, 40, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was arrested for driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test following a vehicle stop on Route 146 South, in Providence.

Gionis was processed, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released to a responsible adult.

On Oct. 17 at 3:02 p.m., Tonya Staten, 39, of Pawtucket, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance, specifically less than 10 grams of Fentanyl.

The arrest occurred when Troopers were called to assist Capitol Police at Sixth Division District Court.

Staten was processed, arraigned as a bail violator, and taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions Women’s Intake Center.

Early that same morning at 1:56 a.m., Jordan Colon, 22, of Norwood, Massachusetts, was detained for failing to appear for a status conference on a charge of resisting arrest from the North Providence Police Department.

The arrest was made after a motor vehicle stop on John J. Partington Way in Providence.

Colon was processed and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

Shortly afterward at 2:38 a.m., Dominic Alves, 27, of East Providence, was arrested on multiple warrants, including failure to appear for determination of attorney on a charge of domestic simple assault and failure to appear for a pretrial conference on another charge of domestic simple assault.

The arrest followed a motor vehicle stop on Branch Avenue in Providence.

Alves was processed and taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.
