NEWINGTON — A head-on collision on East Cedar Street left one person dead and another injured Tuesday night, authorities said.
Newington Police officers were called to the scene near Patricia Genova Drive at about 8:14 p.m. after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident.
The crash involved two vehicles, with one rolling over as a result of the impact.
A male driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The female driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from her car by the Newington Volunteer Fire Department.
She was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased will be released once family notifications have been completed.
The Mid State Accident Reconstruction Squad is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
