Empty firearm box found on Morgan roadway, police seek owner

MORGAN — A Springfield Armory box, which was found empty on the side of a road, is prompting Vermont State Police to search for its owner.

The box was turned in by a concerned citizen around 5:37 p.m. on Oct. 16, according to police.

It was located on VT Route 111 near the intersection of Gore Road.

Authorities are asking anyone who can provide documentation proving ownership of the box to contact the Vermont State Police Derby barracks at (802) 334-8881.

Police have not released further details about the box or potential contents that may have been inside when lost.
