NORWALK — A local man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of a motorcycle rider last month, police said.

Juan Ochoa-Macias, 31, of 34 Southwind Dr., was taken into custody on Oct. 15 after an investigation into the Sept. 14 crash at the intersection of Winfield Street and Pequot Drive, according to the Norwalk Police Department.

Authorities said the collision occurred when Ochoa-Macias, driving a pickup truck, made a left turn onto Pequot Drive and struck the motorcycle, which was traveling west on Winfield Street at a reasonable speed.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, sustained life-threatening injuries and died the following day.

Norwalk Police Accident Reconstruction Officers led the investigation, which resulted in a warrant for Ochoa-Macias.

He was arrested without incident and faces charges of misconduct with a motor vehicle and failure to yield while turning left.

Ochoa-Macias’s bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 29.
