BARTON — A 44-year-old woman was arraigned on three counts of felony Medicaid fraud, the state Attorney General’s Office announced.

Katrina LaFoe of Barton pleaded not guilty to charges of impermissibly billing Medicaid for services allegedly provided by another, defrauding Vermont Medicaid of over $18,000 in public health care funds.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Residential Abuse Unit (MFRAU) and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

Judge Benjamin Battles, presiding in Vermont Superior Court, Orleans Criminal Division, ordered conditions of release requiring LaFoe to maintain contact with the court and counsel and to attend all further proceedings.

Authorities encourage anyone suspecting abuse of the Vermont Medicaid program to contact Vermont Adult Protective Services at 800-564-1612 and MFRAU through the state’s official website.
