BOLTON — Officers from the Bolton Police Department were called to a serious crash at 550 Main St. at about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, shortly after reports of a hit-and-run incident on the same road.

A BPD officer, conducting traffic enforcement near 563 Main St., witnessed the crash as a dark grey Lexus IS 350 veered from the eastbound lane near 580 Main St., struck I-495 ramp signs, and crashed into a stone wall before stopping in the road.

The officer called for Bolton Fire and EMS while trying to assist the driver, who seemed disoriented and had to be restrained to avoid wandering into traffic.

Additional units from Bolton-EMS and police departments in Stow and Berlin arrived, and traffic was rerouted onto I-495 South to provide a safe area for emergency crews amidst the widespread debris.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the Lexus had dangerously overtaken several vehicles on Main St. at high speed, colliding with at least three before the final crash.

Despite the chaos, no other injuries were reported.

The Lexus driver was taken to a hospital, and the badly damaged vehicle was towed from the scene.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.

The Bolton Police Department is asking anyone who saw the vehicle’s erratic driving or captured it on a vehicle camera to come forward with information.
