Stamford police probe fatal shooting at Super 8 Hotel

STAMFORD — Stamford police officers rushed to the Super 8 Hotel on Grenhardt Road Monday morning after reports of gunfire, where they found a 59-year-old man shot dead.

The call came in at approximately 10:40 a.m., sending patrol division officers to the hotel at 32 Grenhardt Road.

Upon their arrival, they discovered Angel Samaniego, a Stamford resident, with a gunshot wound.

Emergency Medical Services personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The Stamford Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, led by Sgt. Luis Serna, is actively investigating the homicide.

Authorities have not released any information about suspects or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
