Southbury man arrested for criminal impersonation, outstanding warrant

SOUTHBURY — A routine traffic stop on Oct. 14 led to the arrest of a local man for using a false identity and an outstanding warrant, according to Southbury Police.

Officers pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation and discovered that the driver, Carl Conklin, born Jan. 6, 1970, was attempting to mislead them by providing a fake name and date of birth.

The stop occurred at 5:16 p.m. and resulted in Conklin’s arrest.

Further investigation revealed that Conklin had an outstanding arrest warrant for a probation violation.

He now faces charges including Criminal Impersonation, Interfering With an Officer, Improper Use of Marker Plate, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Disobeying the Signal of an Officer.

Conklin was held on $4,000 in bonds and was transferred to the custody of Parole.

He was scheduled for a court appearance at Waterbury Superior Court on Oct. 15.
