Portland teen in stable condition after early morning shooting

PORTLAND — A 17-year-old juvenile was shot and critically injured early Tuesday morning on Forest Avenue, prompting an intensive investigation by local authorities.

Portland Police were called to 1390 Forest Avenue at 2:21 a.m. following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers found the young victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The juvenile, whose identity has not been released, was swiftly transported to Maine Medical Center and is now reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators are working tirelessly to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are appealing to the public for assistance.
