MONTVILLE –– Montville Police Department is calling for community assistance to identify a dirt bike rider causing disturbances in The Manor neighborhood.
The rider, operating a non-street-legal bike, has been involved in reckless driving and trespassing incidents, prompting multiple complaints from residents.
Police reports indicate that the individual has evaded officers on at least two occasions during attempted traffic stops.
The department aims to locate the rider not only to address the current violations but also to educate them on appropriate and legal riding areas.
The issue of dirt bike misuse is not unique to Montville, as neighboring towns have experienced similar challenges.
Dirt bike enthusiasts often express frustration over the lack of designated riding spaces, citing “Give us a place to ride” as a common grievance.
In response, authorities suggest legal alternatives such as purchasing private land, registering to ride on Pachaug State Forest Trails, or seeking permission from landowners to use their property.
Riding without permission constitutes trespassing, and off-road vehicles can cause significant damage to private property.
The safety risks are amplified when non-street-legal bikes are operated on public roads.
Montville Police encourage anyone with information about the rider to contact their routine line at 860-848-7510 and request to speak with Officer DiColella.
The community’s cooperation is crucial to resolving these disturbances and promoting safe, lawful riding practices.
