Groton teen dies following Fishtown Road crash

GROTON — A 14-year-old boy has died after a vehicle crash on Fishtown Road, the Groton Police Department announced in a somber update on Monday night.

The accident occurred early Monday morning at approximately 1:21 a.m. when first responders were alerted to the scene by an iPhone Crash Detection feature from one of the car’s occupants.

Four teenagers were transported with serious injuries following the crash.

Local emergency personnel, including multiple fire departments and paramedics, worked to extricate the victims from the severely damaged 2012 Toyota 4runner.

Later in the day, at 10:53 p.m., Groton Police were informed that one of the occupants, Carson Wilson, 14, of Groton, succumbed to his injuries.

The other three teens, including Carson’s 17-year-old sibling Skyler Wilson, Kais Shiman, 17, of Mystic, and Alex Quilter, 17, of Groton, remain hospitalized with serious conditions.

The Southeastern Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit is assisting the Groton Police in the ongoing investigation.
