ST. ALBANS — A St. Albans Town woman escaped with minor injuries after her car hydroplaned and rolled on Interstate 89 Monday morning.

Vermont State Police said Bethany Leduc, 25, of Alburg was traveling northbound on I-89 at mile marker 116 around 8:28 a.m. when her 2020 Nissan Rogue encountered standing water on the wet roadway.

The vehicle lost traction, veered off the road into the breakdown lane, and came to rest on its roof after rolling over.

Leduc, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to Northwestern Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Her vehicle was totaled in the crash.

The incident caused temporary disruptions on the highway as emergency crews responded to the scene.

Authorities remind drivers to exercise caution when driving in wet weather and to be aware of potential hydroplaning on road surfaces.
