WILLIAMSTOWN — A local man was charged with domestic assault after an investigation by Vermont State Police into an incident that occurred earlier in the day on Oct. 13.
Troopers were alerted by medical personnel at the Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC) to an assault at a residence on 79 Graniteville Rd.
According to the report, 57-year-old Louis Gaudette physically assaulted an 81-year-old family member.
At the time of the incident, Gaudette was already in custody with the Berlin Police Department for an unrelated matter.
Following the investigation, he was issued a citation to appear before the Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Dec. 4 at 8:30 a.m.
The Vermont State Police, adhering to their policy, did not release the name of the victim to protect their privacy.
Further details about the nature of the assault were not immediately available.
The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Orange County court system.
