Waterbury shooting leaves one dead, another critically injured

WATERBURY — The Vermont State Police is investigating a fatal shooting at the Kneeland Flats Trailer Park that occurred early Monday morning, leaving one man dead and another critically injured.

The incident was reported to authorities at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 14 when a shooting was called in.

Troopers arrived at the scene to find the victims, one of whom was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit and other supporting divisions are suggesting that the shooting was a targeted and isolated event.

There have been no arrests made in connection to the shooting thus far.

The Crime Scene Search Team (CSST) is handling the processing of the scene, and the deceased will be taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to confirm identity.

The names of the individuals involved have not been released pending notification of next of kin and further investigation.
