MENDON — A vehicle overturned on US RT 4 near Medway Road on Oct. 13, leading to minor injuries for the driver and passenger.

At approximately 3:29 p.m., Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident involving a 2018 GMC Terrain.

The driver, Isabella Dejesus, 30, of Montpelier, and her passenger, Andrew Fortune, 24, also from Montpelier, were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

According to the investigation, Dejesus was traveling westbound on US RT 4 when her vehicle encountered standing water on the wet roadway, causing her to hydroplane.

The GMC Terrain subsequently struck a guardrail and overturned, sustaining significant damage.

Despite the overcast and rainy conditions that may have contributed to the hazardous road conditions, both Dejesus and Fortune sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Rutland City Fire Department and the Regional Ambulance Service at the scene.
