St. Albans man charged with reckless endangerment in road rage incident

COLCHESTER — A road rage encounter on Interstate 89 led to a reckless endangerment charge for a St. Albans man after he reportedly brandished a firearm at another driver, authorities said.

Vermont State Police responded to a call at 9:52 a.m. on Sept. 21 about an incident near Exit 17 on I-89 Northbound.

The victim, Brianna Forbes, 35, of Peru, New York, reported that 42-year-old Nikolai Makarov of St. Albans Town, Vermont, had been driving aggressively and tailgating her vehicle.

According to the investigation, after Makarov passed Forbes, he displayed a firearm in a manner that was deemed reckless towards Forbes and her family.

Troopers later located Makarov in St. Albans Town.

Makarov is scheduled to appear in Chittenden County Court Criminal Division on Dec. 3 at 8:30 a.m. to respond to the charge.
